Trevor Noah shades Nicki Minaj with ‘crazy’ Trump comments at the Grammys

The comedian and TV host made a indiscreet jab at the rapper’s friendship with the president

Trevor Noah made his feelings about Nicki Minaj quite clear after her recent comments about the president and the Trump administration.

Noah is hosting the main ceremony at tonight’s Grammys (February 1) and following Bruno Mars and Rosé’s performance of ‘APT’, he walked through the crowd to chat to celebrities.

He gave shoutouts to the likes of Pharrell Williams, Jelly Roll, Miley Cyrus, and Bad Bunny who are in attendance this evening — but there’s one music star who’s notably not there tonight, that being Nicki Minaj.

Minaj has been making headlines of late after pledging her support to the Trump administration, and was even seemingly gifted one of the POTUS’ controversial $1,000,000 Gold Cards.

A White House official later revealed the card that the ‘Starships’ singer was simply a memento, however.

With her absence from the Grammys and her ties to the Trump administration in mind, Noah wasted no time in blasting the rapper this evening in front of her peers.

“Nicki Minaj is not here,” he said as Chrissy Teigen gave a thumbs up to the camera.

“She is still at the White House with Donald Trump discussing very important issues.”

Noah went on to quip that these ‘important discussions’ were about who has the ‘biggest backside’, her or Trump, before he went on to do a spot on impression of the 47th president’s voice.

Trevor Noah roasts Nicki Minaj at the #Grammys over her MAGA support: “She’s still at the White House with Donald Trump.”

Reacting to Noah’s swipe, someone said on Twitter: “Not the crowd cheering extra loud after he said ‘Nicki minaj is not here.'”

Echoing similar sentiments, another Grammys viewer said: “LMFAOOOO Trevor Noah shading Nicki Minaj saying she isn’t in the room tonight then everyone immediately cheering is CRAZY.”

“The way I gasped! He really went there with that one lol,” a third added.

“Trevor Noah woke up and chose chaos,” penned someone else.

Minaj has been facing a lot of heat of late after she publicly supported Trump. People were so mad about her comments that petitions were created calling on her to be deported.

Arguably, these have backfired though as the rapper has since used these petitions as encouragement to finally become a US citizen.

“Finalizing that citizenship paperwork as we speak as per MY wonderful, gracious, charming President,” she said in a January 29 tweet.

Minaj added: “Thanks to the petition. I wouldn’t have done it without you.”

While she wasn’t given an official Gold Card, an official who spoke to The New York Times said that the music star has long been a legal immigrant in America and therefore is eligible for citizenship.
